Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Regionally, the next older unit is the Devonian Hon Heo Fm.

Upper contact

The Ha Tien Fm has a tectonic contact with the Dat Do Fm (late Permian) or other formations in its distribution area.

Regional extent

Kien Giang and Gulf of Thailand. The formation extends for 30km along the coastal zone from the Cambodian frontier to Hon Chong Cape, and is exposed in the small limestone hills 100 m high. Marl occurring at Hon Chong (Ha Tien area) is a variation of the upper part of the Ha Tien Fm, and has been described as the Chua Hang Marl Member.
